There are books that you start reading but stop halfway as you cannot digest the content,then there are books which are a one time read just for light reading and then there are these very special books that leave a lasting impression on your lives. Steve Jobs by Walter Issacson is one such book that belongs to the last category. I started reading this book a few months back and had completed halfway when certain personal commitments took over and I was not able to finish it. A few days back I was desperately looking forward to reading when my husband thrust this book into my hands and said "Complete it" And I am grateful he did for as soon as I started reading it I felt that a long lost connection was re-established. Earlier The Harry Potter series were books that kept me intrigued more so because of the authors imagination of the magical world.How is this book different from the HP series?Well it is one of those books that tells that magical things which were thought of as impossible can still be possible and it is pretty much evident from the wonderful products present around is. The book made me believe that passion and a hunger for excellence can move mountains. Was the person who did this perfect? No he was flawed,probably more flawed than anyone else around him.Yet there was this creative streak in him and an ability to push people around him to make wonders happen. His feisty attitude and demand to have things under his control, his strong desire to integrate technology and humanities and his vision for a future that none during his time may have envisioned are some qualities that leave you enthralled. As I write this down using my IPAD I cannot help but marvel at the story behind its birth and the advent of the many wonderful products that revolutionised mankind. What I learn from the book? Be passionate about something and strive to excel without fearing what the world might say. Whom would I recommend this book? To every person on the planet. Why? Because none of us are perfect and there is something to learn from everyone. All in all I'd say after reading this account of the creative genius, you might like him,hate him but will definitely not ignore him as the book itself says. P.S.- I am sorry to say that I will not be able to lend this book to anyone as it has secured a permanent place in my bookshelf for reading again and again in the years to come. Again the authors writing makes me look forward to read his next biography on Einstein.
